What a complete evaluation includes

A thorough, respectful autism assessment

Autism overlaps with anxiety, ADHD, OCD and trauma, and it's often missed — especially in adults, girls and women. A careful evaluation looks at the whole picture. Here's what yours includes.

Validated screening & rating scales

For adults — including an Asperger's profile — the RAADS-R (Ritvo Autism Asperger Diagnostic Scale–Revised) and AQ. For children and teens, the SRS-2, and the M-CHAT-R for young children — capturing traits across the settings that matter.

Structured diagnostic assessment

A criteria-based evaluation against DSM-5-TR, using the CARS-2 — a validated, efficient tool well-suited to many evaluations, including those funded through Step Up. When a full ADOS-2 (the field's gold-standard structured observation) is the right next step, we coordinate directly with our trusted neuropsychology partners — so you're not left to find one on your own.

Comprehensive clinical exam

A physician-led interview covering history, development, sensory experience, and daily function — and a careful differential to sort autism from (or alongside) ADHD, anxiety and OCD.

Personalized support plan

A clear written plan: the diagnosis explained, plus next steps that may include school or workplace accommodations, therapy referrals (speech, OT, social/executive coaching), and treatment of any co-occurring conditions.

How it works

Signs worth evaluating

Autism looks different across ages, and often different in girls, women and adults who've learned to mask. If several of these resonate, an evaluation can bring clarity.

In children & teens

  • Differences in eye contact, back-and-forth conversation or play
  • Deep, focused interests and a love of routine or sameness
  • Strong reactions to sound, texture, light or crowds
  • Repetitive movements or speech, or lining up / ordering things
  • Struggles with change, transitions or unwritten social rules

In adults (incl. "Asperger's")

  • A lifelong sense of being different or "from another planet"
  • Social exhaustion from masking or scripting interactions
  • Intense interests, strong routines, or need for predictability
  • Sensory overwhelm, or shutdowns and burnout
  • Earlier labels of anxiety or depression that never fully fit

Several of these resonate? An evaluation brings clarity either way.

Common questions

Autism & Asperger's testing, answered

What is the RAADS-R?
The RAADS-R (Ritvo Autism Asperger Diagnostic Scale–Revised) is an 80-item, clinician-supported questionnaire designed to help identify autism spectrum traits in adults — including those historically described as Asperger's. It covers social relatedness, sensory-motor experience, language, and focused interests. It's a validated tool that supports the evaluation; it doesn't replace a full clinical diagnosis, which is exactly why we pair it with a physician assessment.
Is Asperger's still a diagnosis?
Since 2013, what used to be called Asperger's is diagnosed as autism spectrum disorder (often "ASD, Level 1"). Many people still identify with the term Asperger's, and we respect that. The evaluation is the same — a careful look at the full autism spectrum.
Do you use the ADOS-2?
The ADOS-2 is widely regarded as the gold-standard structured observation for autism, and it's administered by specialized neuropsychologists. In our evaluations we often use the CARS-2 — a validated, efficient tool well-suited to many cases, including those funded through Step Up — alongside a full physician assessment. When a full ADOS-2 is the best next step, we coordinate directly with our trusted neuropsychology partners, so you're not left searching on your own.
Do you evaluate adults, or only children?
Both. Because Dr. Loungani is board-certified in child and adult psychiatry, we evaluate children, teens and adults — including adults seeking a first-time or "late" diagnosis after a lifetime of feeling different.
Can testing be done by telehealth?
Much of the evaluation — including the interview and scales like the RAADS-R — can be done by secure telehealth across Florida. For some children, or when more in-depth structured assessment is indicated, an in-person visit or a specific next step may be recommended; we'll tell you upfront.
What can a diagnosis actually do for me?
Clarity, first — an explanation that finally fits. Practically: access to accommodations at school or work, self-understanding, better-targeted support, and treatment for any co-occurring anxiety, ADHD or depression. You'll leave with a written plan, not just a label.
How much does it cost, and do you take insurance?
We're a concierge, self-pay practice — which is what lets us offer the unrushed time an autism evaluation deserves. It’s normally $1,999.99; through our summer special it’s $1,498.99 when you book by July 31, 2026. As a Step Up For Students provider, we can help Florida families apply FES-UA / PEP funds toward the evaluation.* Contact us for current pricing and options.
